Project details: Custom illustrated map of New York City for a private client. The map is customized to include meaningful landmarks to the client and his spouse across New York City.

The map’s design contains loose geographical accuracy, and but each landmark is more so meant to surprise, delight, and entertain. We used depictions of storefronts and signage to literally depict some landmarks, while others a represented by an item personal to the client like a plate of food, type of wine, or a meaningful event that happened in that place. Icons of New York City are scattered in the background – yellow taxi’s, gridded streets – to ensure the map looks and feels like New York City.
